Trama:
Meet a child genius named Sheldon Cooper; (already seen as an adult in The Big Bang Theory (2007)) and his family. Some unique challenges face Sheldon who seems socially impaired.

La seconda stagione di Young Sheldon si è conclusa con un accenno a The Big Bang Theory. Dopo aver ottenuto una radio dal professor John Sturgis (Wallace Shawn), Sheldon ha infatti invitato tutta la sua scuola per assistere alla proclamazione dei vincitori del Nobel. Il bambino, purtroppo, ha però dovuto affrontare una grossa delusione, visto che nessuno si è presentato per partecipare all’evento. La scena, raccontata dalla voce narrante, si è così spostata su Leonard, Penny, Raj, Howard, Amy e Bernardette da bambini, segno del fatto che il piccolo Cooper, almeno da adulto, non sarebbe mai stato completamente solo.

Da questo finale partiranno i nuovi episodi, caratterizzati anche dalla quotidianità della famiglia d’origine di Sheldon: Mary (Zoe Perry), la madre del protagonista, continuerà a svolgere il suo lavoro in chiesa, Missy (Raegan Revord) e Georgie (Montana Jordan) affronteranno nuovi problemi a scuola, così come non mancheranno le imprese strampalate del padre George (Lance Barber) e della nonnina Connie (Annie Potts). Gli imprevisti si presenteranno però a sorpresa, soprattutto quando il dottor Sturgis verrà ricoverato in una clinica psichiatrica: da un lato Mary si preoccuperà per le condizioni di salute dell’uomo, mentre Sheldon – triste e sconsolato poiché non potrà più partecipare alle sue lezioni – si chiuderà all’interno di uno sgabuzzino.

Dalla terza stagione, il Pastore Jeff Hodghkins, interpretato da Matt Hobby, passerà ufficialmente nel cast fisso, dopo due anni come guest.
