Note : A movie a lot of people have heard of, in part because of that soundtrack remix album that came out a couple of decades ago, but few have seen, this is Spanish schlockmeister Jesús Franco's Hispano-German sexploitation take on Dracula, but gender-swapped and very, very lesbian. There's even a female Renfield who's driven insane by the lack of sweet lesbian sex with her mistress.

The story is very simple, a lawyer working in Istanbul goes to a remote island to meet a client, the Countess Carody, to finalize a real estate transaction. The Countess turns out to be Dracula's heir, and the real estate in question is Dracula's castle. However, we don't get to see much of that, instead, the Countess sunbathes a whole lot for a vampire, skinny dips with the lawyer, then mind controls/seduces her in her room. Things get more confusing from there, but the soundtrack is groovy and the boobs are as abundant as the interior lighting budget is limited. There's also a weird subplot with a serial killer of women (played by the director himself, uncredited) who turns out to be Renfielda's husband, driven mad by her abandoning him. I think. It's unclear, as are many of the shots in this film, since the focus puller seems to have been drunk a lot of the time. There's really a criminal amount of out of focus shots. On the bright side, a lot of cool 70s interior design, dominated by the color red.

The quality of this remaster is fine, not completely clean, but very watchable, with good color and contrast. The out of focus shots get annoying some times, but that's hardly the remaster's fault. Too bad about the lack of a commentary track.
