True Blood is een Amerikaanse horror serie op de zender HBO. De serie ging in première op 7 september 2008.

True Blood is gecreëerd en geproduceerd door Alan Ball (bekend van onder andere Six Feet Under en American Beauty). De reeks is gebaseerd op de boekenreeks The Southern Vampire Mysteries van Charlaine Harris.

In True Blood wordt de wereld in de nabijetoekomst getoond. Vampieren zijn 'uit de kist' gekomen dankzij de ontwikkeling van synthetisch bloed door een Japans bedrijf. Mensen zijn voor vampieren nu niet langer nodig als voedselbron en de wereld probeert een balans te vinden in het samenleven van mensen en vampieren. De serie draait om de levens van de telepathische serveerster Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin) en de vampier Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer) in het fictieve stadje Bon Temps, Louisiana.
