Nella sua nuova opera, La forma dell'acqua, il visionario Guillermo del Toro racconta una fiaba gotica ricca di suggestioni fantasy, ambientata nel pieno della Guerra Fredda americana (siamo nel 1963) e incentrata su una giovane eroina senza voce.

Eliza si avvicina sempre di più al "mostro", costruendo con lui una tenera complicità che farà seriamente preoccupare i suoi superiori.

In his new work, La forma dell'acqua, the visionary Guillermo del Toro tells a gothic fairy tale full of fantasy suggestions, set in the middle of the American Cold War (we are in 1963) and centered on a young voiceless heroine.
Because of her muteness, the cleaning lady Elisa (Sally Hawkins) feels trapped in a world of silence and solitude, mirroring herself in the eyes of others she sees herself as an incomplete and defective being, so she lives the daily routine without big ambitions or expectations.
Assigned to clean up a secret laboratory, Elisa and her colleague Zelda (Octavia Spencer) accidentally come across a dangerous government experiment: a scaly creature with a humanoid appearance, kept in a sealed tub full of water. Eliza gets closer and closer to the "monster", building with him a tender complicity that will seriously worry her superiors.
