Summary:

Tom Wolfe's book on the history of the U.S. Space program reads like a novel, and the film has that same fictional quality. It covers the breaking of the sound barrier by Chuck Yeager to the Mercury 7 astronauts, showing that no one had a clue how to run a space program or how to select people to be in it. Encoder Note: Total encoding time was 11h 46m on an i9-12900k. SVT-AV1 v1.8 Mode 3 was used, with Mode 2 Global Motion and Motion Search Range. The bitrate of the video stream is 3.8Mbps. 75% of the file size is the video quality, 5% each for OPUS 256kbps 5.1 audio + subs in English, French, German, Italian and Spanish. The film is 3h 12m long. The file size is 2.1GB per hour. It can be reduced to 1.7GB per hour with MKVToolNix.
