If you like your British goth rock at an ambling pace with dark, droning melodies and a flavor that comes from being one of the premier early post punk bands -- you are in for a treat. While The March Violets were once at the dark, yet still very visible UK post-punk scene alongside the Sisters of Mercy (even releasing some albums on their label), they soon collapsed under the weight of a changing cast of members, different egos, and musical directions. Though the March Violets only existed during the few short years in the 80's and only released a handful of albums, the band changed things for the music industry: made it darker, and championed black leather and big hair as well as drum machines. For more than 20 years, the band lay dormant while a slew of impersonators and Violets-inspired bands picked up where they left off. Now, fan of these goth rock pioneers can finally see the reunion they crave as the March Violets take on the US, with members from the band's earliest incarnation. For a sort of minimalistic punk band, the March Violets have it all: fuzzy guitar, echo-y layers, mechanical rhythms, and duo vocals from original members Rosie and Simon. You can expect the glam and gloomy drama of a dark cabaret that you can only find from a band who was actually there during the 1980's rise of goth. And a whole lot of movement when "Snakedance" finally hits your ears.
