I have to say first off I have always loved Anna Farris from the scary movie series and she does not disappoint in this sitcom at all. All these people saying that this show is negative and trashy are the same people that love two and a half men and watch it faithfully. I have laughed through every episode so far and can't wait to see how the whole series turns out. The woman who plays Anna Farris's mom is so funny and it kind of reminds you of the mother on two and half men. Don't listen to what other people say and watch for yourself before you make a judgment call. I see other shows that have a good rating like we're the millers which has no laughs in it whatsoever. We live in a generation where people see one thing they don't like an all of sudden everything about the show is bad.

Mom racconta la storia di Christy (Anna Faris), una madre single con un passato di abusi di alcol e droghe che tenta di rifarsi una vita come cameriera in un elegante locale di Napa Valley essendo da quattro mesi sobria. La sua stabilità emotiva viene, però, messa alla prova quando riappare nella sua vita la madre Bonnie, (Allison Janney, vincitrice di 4 Emmy Awards per West Wing), anch’ella con alle spalle eccessi di droghe e alcol.

A fare da sfondo a questo tragicomico duo ruotano diversi personaggi dalla scrittura interessante: Gabriel, l’affascinante capo sposato nonché amante di Christy; l’irascibile chef del ristorante Rudy; la figlia sedicenne e ribelle Violet; il dolce e onesto figlio Rosco; l’ex marito nullafacente Baxter; e il fidanzato di Violet sempre-pronto-a-mostrarsi-senza-veli, Luke.

L’apice della comicità si vedrà quando data la crisi economica, Christy sarà costretta, per dividere le spese, a ospitare sotto il proprio tetto la madre Bonnie, già sua compagna di banco nei rehab. Un racconto ironico e a tratti cinico che ritrae tre generazioni di donne dalla vita turbolenta a confronto. Madri e figlie perennemente in conflitto tra loro per incomprensioni e rancori talmente radicati da non vedere quella similarità che le lega e che regala al telespettatore un inevitabile sorriso.
