Originally published in 1983, MaMa follows young Dorrie, whose family has suffered the death of her father. As each family member deals with grief, Dorrie takes to the attic, alone, to play with her dolly and other toys. Her excitement to actually bring them alive is short lived, and soon replaced with … fear.

Five print-runs were dedicated to MaMa between 1983 and 1986, with estimated 250,000 books sold. The novel is now available for the first time since then. MaMa is the first of eventually five “evil doll” books from Ruby Jean Jensen. Annabelle (’87), the second evil doll book, also won high praise. These were followed by Victoria (’90), Baby Dolly (’91), and The Living Evil (’93). All five are now available once again.
