Where it Goes is particularly strong....I bought this album almost as soon as it was released after reading a very favorable review in 'CD Review'. I had a two hour drive home later on that day, and I put it into the car player, and knew almost immediately that this was one of those all-too-rare albums that would move forward with you in time, and almost twenty years later, I can truly say the same thing. The melodies and vocals are fragile as she crafts a tapestry that evokes pain and introspection without any hint of self pity. The production is also outstanding with vocals and instruments being perfectly balanced and tonally superb.

This perfect trifecta of melodies, lyrics and instruments unfortunately was not recreated on her subsequent albums...not that they are bad. In fact they are at times very good. But none of them are transcendental as this one.

In the days before MP3s were readily available and CD-burners were not yet main stream. I used to buy several copies of this at a time and send them to friends around the country and world (I think one copy made its way to the Netherlands, and another one to Scotland). A piece of musical art this good deserves to be shared as often as possible. After I got to know the album very well I compared it with Janis Ian's 'Between the Lines' which shares all of the positive attributes of this album, although the delivery is somewhat different.
