Jools’ Annual Hootenanny 2019-2020 (1280x720p HD, 50fps, soft Eng subs)
Get your party poppers and dancing shoes ready to see out the decade and welcome in the 2020s. Joining Jools on this year's Hootenanny are Stormzy, Brittany Howard, Rick Astley, Tom Walker, Yolanda Brown, Stereophonics, Melanie, La Roux, Eddi Reader, Pauline Black and Arthur 'Gaps' Hendrickson from The Selecter, Joseph, Ruby Turner, and The Pipes and Drums of the 1st Battalion Scots Guards.
Joining Jools and his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra is Alabama Shakes' frontwoman and Grammy nominee Brittany Howard, who brings us a taste of her debut solo album Jamie and lends her dynamic vocals to Jackie Wilson's dance floor filler (Your Love Keeps Lifting Me) Higher and Higher.
Tom Walker, the Mancunian debut star of 2019, performs a track from his number one record What a Time to Be Alive, and 80s pop icon Rick Astley delivers a big band version of his classic Never Gonna Give You Up, the song that made him a global superstar and saw him grace the Reading Festival stage with Foo Fighters this summer. Rick also takes on a Temptations classic.
First Lady of Woodstock and performer at the inaugural Glastonbury, Melanie, brings 70s sunshine vibes to New Year's Eve with singalong hit Brand New Key aka The Rollerskate Song.
Bringing a taste of ska to the celebrations are Pauline Black and Arthur 'Gaps' Hendrickson from much-loved Midlands outfit The Selecter, and Glasgow singer-songwriter and frontwoman of 80s folk-pop band Fairground Attraction Eddie Reader performs their iconic 1980s smash Perfect.
And it wouldn't be a Hootenanny without vocal powerhouse Ruby Turner, who joins Jools to perform the pair's latest single Come On In.
Also in the studio to see in the new year is south London rapper and the star of Glastonbury 2019 Stormzy, who performs Crown and more from his second album, Heavy is the Head.
Long-standing Welsh rockers Stereophonics perform songs from their recent seventh number one album Kind, plus a classic tune. Lead singer Kelly Jones also joins Jools and the Rhythm & Blues Orchestra with his take on a song made famous by Nina Simone, joined by award-winning saxophonist YolanDa Brown.
Taking stage in the centre of the floor, it is a family affair with sisters Joseph. The trio of siblings from Portland, Oregon, showcase their harmonies on a track from this years' Good Luck, Kid and a reminder of their breakout song White Flag.
Jools welcomes back the synth-pop stylings of La Roux, who returned with new music this autumn after a five-year break. She brings a taste of her forthcoming album Supervision, due in February 2020, and she performs her 2009 hit In for the Kill.
Let us not forget the Pipes and Drums of the 1st Battalion Scots Guards, who, in an annual tradition, pipe in the midnight hour, and keep your eyes peeled for some of the British film and TV stars of the year in our studio audience, who are joining in with the evening's merriment and giving Jools their 2019 highlights, resolutions and predictions for the year ahead.
