From Uist with Love (S01 complete, 540p, Scots Gaelic with hard English subs)

Seven-part observational documentary series filmed over 10 months which follows the stories of some of the people who live and work on the Hebridean islands of Uist. From Berneray in the north to Eriskay in the south, the islands that make up the Uists are home to around 5,000 people. Most people live on the islands of Benbecula, North and South Uist, and the smaller islands of Eriskay, Grimsay and Berneray each have fewer than 200 residents. Although causeways now connect all the islands, they still retain their individual island identity and strong sense of community.

In programme one, it's North Uist Games day, a big event in the summer calendar. We meet young shepherds Archie and Ben, and outdoor enthusiast and head gamekeeper Rory McGillivray. In South Uist, Angus and Neil are busy gathering seafood for export to Spain.

In programme two, it's lambing time for Morag and Neil, and we take a trip with Donald, one of the longest serving crew members on the Loch Portain ferry from Berneray to Harris. Plus we join mobile librarian Donald Ewen as he travels round North Uist.

In programme three, the story of iconic roadside shrines on South Uist, gamekeeper Rory is on a deer cull, Archie and Ben prepare their sheep for the North Uist show and Neil's students try their hand at dry-stone walling.

In programme four, Uist Pipe Band perform at the South Uist Games, the first lamb sale of the year is held at Lochmaddy, we take a walk on the east coast of South Uist and Hercules the Bear, who famously disappeared on Uist in 1980 is remembered.

In programme five, the community gathers to celebrate the opening of the Lochboisdale marina development where Angus and Neil have a shellfish stall, Paul attends an athletics competition in Stornoway and there's a fund-raising Halloween tea in Sollas.

In programme six, Morag and Neil teach dancing, we're back on the Loch Portain ferry with Donald, Mairi prepares for a daffodil tea and the next generation of golfers get a lesson on Askernish golf course from old hands Paddy and John Archie.

In the final programme of the series, Archie and Ben are busy in the lambing shed, Rory goes in search of goose eggs, Morag and Neil are at the cattle sale, Radek has good news and Donald takes his yacht out for the first time this year.
