Das Boot segue le vicende al cardiopalma di un giovane equipaggio di U-Boat, impegnato nella Battaglia dell’Atlantico e braccato da un ossessionato comandante della Royal Navy in un emozionante gioco del gatto e del topo. Vengono inviati in una pericolosa missione nell’emisfero meridionale sotto il comando di Robert Ehrenberg (Franz Dinda) che trova la redenzione e i legami familiari che pensava di aver perso per sempre.
La serie tv è sequel del film Das Boot, e come il lungometraggio si ispira al romanzo omonimo di Lothar-Günther Buchheim pubblicato per la prima volta nel 1973.
