Summary:

We meet 30ish year old Hank Moody in a church asking God to help him get his life back on track. He is then distracted by a hot nun. Moody also has to interact with ex-wife Karen who might still love him. With her, they share the custody of their 12 year old daughter Becca who is wise beyond her years but is starting to have a sex life, which freaks out both of her parents.

A writer tries to juggle his career, his relationship with his daughter and his ex-girlfriend, as well as his appetite for beautiful women.

La serie è incentrata sul personaggio di Hank Moody, affermato scrittore newyorkese in piena crisi creativa ed esistenziale che, trasferitosi nell'odiata Los Angeles per seguire la trasposizione cinematografica del suo romanzo nichilista God hates us all (Dio ci odia tutti), trasformato in una melensa commedia romantica intitolata A crazy little thing called love con "Tom e Katie", deve tentare di ritrovare il suo talento, sistemare il rapporto con la ex compagna Karen, di cui è ancora innamorato, ed essere un padre presente per la figlia adolescente Rebecca ("Becca"). Sfoga tutta la sua rabbia e frustrazione nel sesso compulsivo, concedendosi continue avventure di una notte, nell'alcool e nella scrittura (per quanto lui non la consideri tale) di un blog per "Hell-A.
